This beautiful showstopper of a ring features a fiery and multicolour changing oval Opal Doublet in a platinum setting, on a 18ct gold band. (an opal doublet is an opal sanwiched with a dark coloured backing, which enhances the color's vibrancy.) In almost any light, you will see a real kaleidoscope of colors on this gem; sparks of purple, green and blue lit by a bright orange and pink fire. This incredible gemstone is is surrounded by a thin gold border, which in turn is haloed by a mixture of 12 lively old mine cut and round cut diamonds. Two further diamonds sit on each split shoulder which are beautifully designed as leaves.
The face of this ring measures 1.7cm down and 1.1cm wide including the diamond border. The opal itself measures 1xm x 5mm.
This fabulous Art Deco ring is currently a UK size K (US size 5 1/4) but it could be re-sized up or down. It is hallmarked for 18ct gold and weighs 3.35g.
Opal is the birthstone for the month of October ... The name opal is thought to be derived from the Sanskrit upala, meaning “precious stone,” and later the Greek derivative “Opallios,” meaning “to see a change of color.” Opals have long been thought to encourage freedom, independence and creativity.
