Searching for that special piece of jewellery is an exciting and personal journey. Whether you are looking for an investment piece, an engagement ring, or a gift to yourself, I very much hope Mungo's Mine will be the treasure trove in which you find it.

So why choose antique jewellery?

In addition to it being a greener option for the planet and a healthier one for your wallet, nobody can deny the quality of handmade, original antique jewellery. Can you find anything else you have that is over 100 years old, and has stood the test time to still look fabulous?

Because they were not mass produced in factories, antique and vintage jewellery gives you the opportunity to wear an authentic 'one of a kind' piece. The majority of these items, which were originally made by hand for their owners are therefore completely unique.

These charming heirlooms (which either retain or increase in value with age) come steeped in many years of history, antique cuts that are no longer on the market, and craftmanship, the likes of which is no longer seen today.

We can only guess at the stories behind some of these timeless pieces, but many of them, be it through the secret messages spelt out in their gems, or their use of romantic symbolism, show us clearly the meaning behind which they were curated.
