Vintage, 9ct Gold Padlock with Rose Cut Diamond

Crafted from 9ct Gold, this vintage, large padlock clasp is in full working order.   It is not hallmarked, but i would date it to the 1930s - 1940s.

It features four false screws and unusually, a rose cut diamond set into the front in a starburst setting. The reverse is plain and aside from a very slightly wonky top hinge (which makes no difference to how it opens and closes) this padlock is in a splendid condition for its age, with only light surface scratches and is a good weight of 2.31g.  This is a large padlock, measuring 1.5cm wide x 2cm long

This padlock pendant's versitility means you can either slip it onto a split ring or charm bracelet, or thread a fine chain through its side or centre, and wear it as a pendant on a necklace. The padlock closes firmly so could also be used as a secure clasp for a charm or curb link bracelet.
