Art Deco, Silver and 9ct Gold gem-encrusted Butterfly Brooch

This fabulous Art Deco butterfly brooch is encrusted with an array of sparkling gemstones; two ruby eyes, a sapphire head, a pearl body, and highly decorated wings featuring amethyst, diamond and garnet 

The butterfly weighs 6.92g and measures 4cm x 2.7cm.

In the Victorian era, butterflies were thought to symbolise transformation in life, as well as mortality and the short cycle of life.

The butterfly is not marked but it has been tested for sterling silver, and a thin layer of 9ct gold on its reverse.
