Victorian, Antique, 9ct Gold Shaker/Photo Locket with Pansy, Hallmarked for 9ct Gold, Chester, 1899

Crafted in 9ct gold, and fully hallmarked for Chester, and the year 1899, this beautiful shaker locket is a true piece of history.

These types of lockets were historically used as photo lockets, and this one can still be used to house photos, one on each side. Nowadays, these types of lockets are commonly referred to as shaker lockets, and they carry anything from pretty flowers to loose gem stones - this one features a beautiful pink pansy flower, which in Victorian times was used to symbolise the romantic phrase, 'Think of me'.

This locket is a circle shape, and measures 2cm x 2cm. The base of the locket displays full hallmarks for the maker: H G & S Ltd, and the date, 1899. It weighs a healthy 2.61g and looks wonderful on the end of a chain.

This is a perfect example of timeless antique jewellery, as striking, and easily worn today as it was 100 years ago.
