Nowadays, these types of lockets are commonly referred to as shaker lockets, and they carry anything from photos, pretty flowers or even loose gem stones.

This locket is a beautiful circular shape, and opens via a double screw at the top which is twisted to open and close. It measures 2.5cm x 2.5cm (4cm down including the top bale). The locket is framed with a beautifully and ornately engraved border, and it comes with a closed strong bail. It weighs a healthy 5.10g and could be worn with a belcher chain or a smaller chain as pictured.
