Victorian 9ct Gold Ruby/Diamond Crescent Brooch

This truly stunning Ruby and Diamond crescent moon brooch features 9 graduating rubies and 20 diamonds. Stunning gold work is detailed on both edges, adding some wonderful detail and making this piece really unique.

Crescent moons have a lot of symbolism attached to them and in Victorian times were representative of the changing of the seasons in one's life.  They were often worn after marriage or after a new addition to the family.

This crescent measures 5.5cm from top to bottom and is approximately 5mm wide.   It weighs 4.14g. It is not hallmarked but it has been tested for 9ct Gold and i would date it to the late 1800s.
