Victorian, 18ct Gold Pearl and Diamond Crescent Moon and Star Brooch

This is a beautiful antique 18ct Gold Pearl Crescent brooch with pearl star. It features 32 creamy white seed pearls ascending in size and arranged in two rows, in the middle of which is a large pearl star with a diamond centre. All in all, this makes a superb antique celestial brooch! 

Crescent moons have always carried symbolism, and in the Victorian age, they were representative of the changing of the seasons in one's life. They were often worn after marriage or after a new addition to the family. Stars, which have featured on jewellery for hundreds of years, are known for suymbolising for hope, guidance, and inspiration.

This piece of history remains in wonderful condition with the pearls well matched and well set.  The crescent measures 3cm x 3cm and it weighs 5.53g
