Antique, 15ct Gold Pearl and Diamond Crescent Moon and Star Brooch

This is a beautiful antique 15ct Gold Pearl Crescent brooch with diamond star. It features  a crescent made up of 23 creamy white seed pearls ascending in size, and a diamond  star on its indside rim. 

Crescent moons have always carried symbolism, and in the Victorian age, they were representative of the changing of the seasons in one's life. They were often worn after marriage or after a new addition to the family. Stars, which have featured on jewellery for hundreds of years, are known for suymbolising for hope, guidance, and inspiration.

This piece of history remains in wonderful condition with the pearls well matched and well set.  It also includes the benefit of a safety pin to ensure your brooch stays on.  The crescent measures 2.8cmcm x 2.5cm and it weighs 4.27g.
