Rare, Georgian, 18ct Gold 'Heart in Hand' Hat Pin, with Coral Heart

This is a rare Georgian stick pin, depicting the 'heart in hand' symbol, which was used in jewellery (brooches and stick pins generally) to represent friendship, charity and love.

The 'Heart in Hand' also became one of the symbols used by the Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) in the 1800s - and served to remind members to keep their hearts/giving spirit open to their fellow brothers in need.

The hand is crafted from solid 18ct Gold and weighs 4.44g, and the little heart is made of coral. The hand itself is beautifully decorated with the most exquisite detail the likes of which one only sees in antique jewellery. The cuffs are also ornately decorated with floral engravings and if you look through a loupe, minute detail of skin creases and nails are present.

This is a very rare antique piece, beautifully preserved and ready to be used again!
