Georgian, 15ct Gold, Antique, Pearl, Onyx and double heart mourning brooch

This magnificent Victorian brooch is steeped in history and romantic symbolism. 

Dating to the mid 1800s, it is crafted in 15ct Gold (not marked but tested) it features 26 lustrious and well matched pearls surrounding a border housing platted hair work and two gold foating hearts. (I have not tested the hearts but assume they are also 15ct gold)

Given the hair work inside the compartment, i am assuming that this may have been a mourning piece, and the addition of the hearts, symbolising much love.  The pendant measures approximately 3.5cm x 2.7cm and it weighs 11.57g.
