Boxed, Antique, Victorian 9ct Gold Opal and Rose Cut Diamond Crescent Moon Brooch

This is a beautiful antique 9ct Gold Opal and Rose Cut Diamond Crescent Pendant. 

It features 9 incredible natural opals, which catch the light and display a vast kaleidoscope of colors; sparks of purple, green and blue, lit by bright orange fire from its core.  These opals are sandwiched between 6 pairs of rose cut diamonds which twinkle beautifully as the brooch moves. 

All in all, this makes a superb antique celestial pendant! 

The pendant, which measures 2.8cm x 2.5cm is not marked but has been tested for 9ct Gold.  I would date it to the mid-late 1800s.  It comes with the box shown in the photos 

Crescent moons have always carried symbolism, and in the Victorian age, they were representative of the changing of the seasons in one's life. They were often worn after marriage or after a new addition to the family. Stars, which have featured on jewellery for hundreds of years,  are known for suymbolising for hope, guidance, and inspiration.
