Belle Epoque, French, 18ct Gold, Roses Necklace, 17 inches

This fabulous French, necklace derives from the 'Belle Epoque' era and features 7 highly decorative graduated panels, the largest of which sits at the centre, all ornately engraved with roses and leaves. The panels are held on a cable link chain and spring clasp.

Both the panels and the chain test for 18ct gold, and they remain in excellent condition, the links all being strong and the clasp being secure.

As with so many antique pieces, this necklace remains very wearable today.  It measures 17 inches long and weighs a comfortable 10.69g.

The wonderful thing about these types of antique necklaces is that you are unlikely to find two the same; they were made by hand, and although it is clearly a Belle Epoque design, the jeweller has had the opportunity to show off their own original designs and skills.

The Belle Epoque period fell between 1871 and 1914. It translates from French to “the beautiful era” and is regarded as Europe's golden age.
