Antique, Victorian 32 inch Gilt Metal Belcher Long Guard Chain (72g)

This beautiful antique gilt metal long guard chain dates from the 1870s and has a lovely belcher link. It measures approximately 32 inches and it weighs 72 grams.

Its belcher links are wonderful - 5mm wide and with a large gilt metal dog clip at one end, on which pendants and charms can be held.

Due to quite a bit of wear to the long guard in the form of gilt loss, the chain has a rather attractive two tone (gold/silver) colour scheme but this is only really noticed when held up to the light in one's hand.
