Antique Georgian, 18ct Gold, Bristol Blue Glass Marquise Ring with Diamond Crescent Moon

This ring derives from the Georgian era and features a date for 1782 on its reverse. 

Designed in a marquise, or 'Navette' shape, the rings face (2.8cm x 1.3cm) features a bordered Bristol blue glass background on which a diamond encrusted crescent moon sits with a small pearl at its centre. 

Often referred to as "cobalt blue glass", Bristol Blue glassware is made mixing cobalt with molten glass to produce the distinctive and magical blue colour.  (Have a look at the video and look at the beautiful blues which are lit up inside the glass when the sun hits it)  Finally, what makes objects made from this glass  so special, is that the process is done entirely by hand.  A true work of art!

The ring is currently a UK size K, which is a US size 5 1/2 and it weighs 4g.
