Antique Georgian, 15ct Gold and Bristol Blue Glass Double Heart Brooch / Pin

This absolutely stunning brooch derives from the late Georgian / early Victorian era and features a romantic seed pearl double heart symbol at its centre (reprsenting the joining of two people in love), with a bow on top, (representing marriage)  on a Bristol blue glass background.    28 lustrous natural seed pearls surrounds this incredible piece, clinging to the side of a white enamel border.  The reverse has engraved initials of D F E J. 

This wonderful locket is not marked but has been tested for 15ct Gold.  It is in excellent condition given its age;  the natural pearls are well set and secure, and well matched in colour.   The exterior of the locket measures 2.4cm in diameter and it weighs a healthy 5.71g

Often referred to as "cobalt blue glass", Bristol Blue glassware is made mixing cobalt with molten glass to produce the distinctive and magical blue colour.  (Have a look at the video and look at the beautiful blues which are lit up inside the glass when the sun hits it)  Finally, what makes objects made from this glass  so special, is that the process is done entirely by hand.  A true work of art!
