18ct Gold, Diamond Buckle Ring, Hallmarked 18ct Gold, Birmingham and 1911

This is an incredible and quite unique antique buckle ring, fully hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Birmingham and the year, 1911.

It features a beautiful belt design on its face, and as part of this, four sparkling round cut diamonds on the 'buckle' itself.  

Buckle rings were prevalent in the Victorian era, when sentimental jewellery was extremely popular.  Buckles on jewellery were given as love tokens.  They symbolised the binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring.  They were also regarded as symbols of loyalty and memory.

This ring is a UK size P 3/4, which is a US size 8.  It weighs a healthy 4.47g.
