Antique, 15ct Gold Acrostic 'Adore' Bangle (Diamond, Amethyst, Opal, Emerald, Ruby)

This is an incredible and rare early 20th century acrostic 'ADORE' bangle.  And as is often the case with antique jewellery, this is one of those truly unique pieces that nobody else will have..  Featuring an amethyst, diamond, opale, ruby and emerald, the first letter of each of these gemstones spell out the word ‘ADORE’.

Set in a wonderful, buttery 15ct gold, the gems are vibrant, and the whole piece, romantic and flattering on the wrist. The bangle measures 5mm width all the way round, and it weighs a healthy and comfortable, 9.55g. It still comes with its original rope twist safety chain, and opens and closes securely.

This hard to find bangle, likely made in the early 1920s, fits approximately a 6 inch wrist. It remains in excellent, antique condition, has been lightly cleaned and is ready to wear. 

Sentimental and 'Acrostic' jewellery like this one were popular in the Victorian era and were used to express a secret romantic message to their loved one spelt out in gemstones. This one reminded the wearer that they were 'adored'.
