9ct Gold, Edwardian Suffragette (Amethyst, Peridot and Diamond) Pendant

Set in a strong 9ct gold, this superb antique pendant features a central bezel set peridot surrounded by a display of beautifully scattered pearls in a quatrefoil shape. A single amethyst gemstone hangs in its own bezel setting from the base of the pendant, giving the piece additional length and some movement.

Jewellery which combined peridot, amethyst and diamonds or pearls together was often referred to as suffragette jewellery, as it was in these colours that the suffragettes were thought to communicate to each other that they supported the suffragette movement; Green for 'Give', White for 'Women' and Violet for 'Vote'.

This piece of history is hallmarked on its reverse for 9ct Gold. It measures 2.4cm x 3.5cm wide and weighs 3.3g. It remains in excellent condition. Sadly, there is one tiny pearl missing on the right hand side of the pendant, but this cannot be noticed at all unless you look closely under x10 magnification and i have taken this into consideration when pricing this pendant.
