18ct Gold, Rare clasped hands, Fede/Gimmel Ring

This is a very special antique Fede ring! Crafted from 18ct Gold, it features an engraved face, depicting two clasped hands, representing friendship.  The ring is not hallmarked, probably due to a re-size at some point in its life, but it has been tested for 18ct Gold.

The meaning of 'Fede' is best described from the Latin phrase, “mani in fede,” which means hands clasped in faith'. It was symbolic of faith and trust - and was used as an engagement ring or friendship ring.  

The band is currently a UK size O, which is a US size 7 1/2 It weighs 2.52g of 18ct Gold and is in excellent vintage condition.
