18ct Gold, French, Antique Acorn Locket/Pendant

This very rare and beautiful acorn locket is stunningly engraved across its entire body. It is marked with the eagle's head for French, 18ct Gold, and I would date it to the middle of the 18th Century.  It measures 1.6cm x 1cm and it weighs 2g.

The top of the locket has a little lip which allows you to open it up, and while it looks like its open, the locket is actually completely closed and secure. There are some teeny dinks to the body of the acorn which can only really be seen with a loupe - for the most part its in immaculate condition.

Acorns have been symbolic since the Victorian era, when they were believed to bestow good luck, prosperity and strength on the wearer. This piece has the added locket is super rare!
