18ct Gold, Antique Victorian 'Regard' Acrostic, Multigem Pansy Ring

This is a super antique 18ct Gold acrostic  'REGARD' ring from the early Victorian era.  Its multigem petals feature a lively diamond, surrounded by 2 rubies, an emerald, a garnet, and an amethyst..  The first letter of each precious gemstone spells out the word, 'REGARD'. 

The gems sit around the central old cut diamond like petals and give this ring its unique romantic quality.   The gallery leads down onto a very pretty split shoulders and a solid gold band. 

This style of acrostic ring would have been given to a loved one as a token of affection, and to demonstrate that the giver held them in high 'regard'. 

The ring is currently a UK size L 1/2, which is a US size 6.  It weighs 1.95g.  It is in fabulous condition, with the gemstones in good order for its age.  No hallmarks remain on this ring and its locket back has been removed and cleaned.
