18ct Gold, Antique Moonstone and Pearl Heart Necklace

What a romantic piece! Set in hallmarked 18ct Gold, this dreamy vintage necklace features a truly incredible blue/grey cabochan heart-shaped Moonstone surrounded by 35, firmly set lustrious split pearls.

This stunning necklace is in excellent condition. The moonstone is without fault, lustrious and exuding adularescence with a border of well matched split pearls - a simply stunning example of sweetheart jewellery at its best.

It comes on a 16 inch 18ct gold chain and the moonstone heart measures 1.7cm x 2cm, not including the bale. It weighs 5.33g. This piece is not dated, but i suspect the pendant derives from the end of the Victorian era. It has been put on a vintage chain.

Moonstones have been held in high regard across cultures for many hundreds of years; The Victorians believed moonstones brought you good fortune in love, and consequently, the stone was often used for engagement rings during that era.
The ancient Greeks called the gem 'Aphroselene', in honor of the goddesses Aphrodite and Selene, and in ancient Asia, they believed the gem was a solid ray of moonlight filled with good spirits.
Known as talisman for protection, health and good fortune, the moonstone has also been called the traveler's stone, and used for protection on journeys.
