Vintage Sterling Silver Moonstone Necklace (28 inches)

This wonderful Art Deco, Vintage Moonstone Necklace features 49 oval moonstone cabachons (graduating in size)  in their own bezel settings arranged in a very pretty single layer.  With a collective weight of over 25ct, these moonstones shimmer a magnificent pale blue/grey glow as they hang from their 28 inch silver chain. The chain weighs 19.16g.

When Moonstones were first discovered in Ancient Rome, it was believed that they were formed from solidified beams of moonlight. It was also thought that Diana, the goddess of the moon, could be seen within the stone, and that it would bestow love, wisdom and good fortune upon the wearer.   Other cultures have associated the moonstone with good luck powers, and a symbol of love and passion.
