Antique, 9ct Gold Moonstone Garnet cluster drop earrings

These dreamy cabochon moonstone earrings boast a stunning border made up of 20 well matched and bright garnets. The moonstones themselves have a magical adularescence, and you can see them change from a smokey grey to deep blue hue as they catch the light around you.

They weigh 5.25g collectively and measures approximately 1.6cm diameter.  They hang from the ears comfortably and are not marked, but test for 14-15ct gold on their reverse, and 9ct gold on their wires.

When Moonstones were first discovered in Ancient Rome, it was believed that they were formed from solidified beams of moonlight. It was also thought that Diana, the goddess of the moon, could be seen within the stone, and that it would bestow love, wisdom and good fortune upon the wearer. Other cultures have associated the moonstone with good luck powers, and a symbol of love and passion.
