Vintage, 9ct Gold Moonstone and diamond drop earrings

This elegant pair of earrings were such a find! The dreamy cabochon moonstones have the most magical adularescence, and you can watch them change from a smokey grey to light blue hue as they hit different lights. The moonstones hang below some diamond 'leaves' which sparkle beautifully and which are topped by a little pearl just below the ear wires,

The earrings measure approximately 3.ccm down and 8mm wide. They weigh 2.66g collectively and hang from the ears comfortably. They are not marked, but have been tested for 9ct Gold.

When Moonstones were first discovered in Ancient Rome, it was believed that they were formed from solidified beams of moonlight. It was also thought that Diana, the goddess of the moon, could be seen within the stone, and that it would bestow love, wisdom and good fortune upon the wearer. Other cultures have associated the moonstone with good luck powers, and a symbol of love and passion.
