Vintage, 18ct Gold multigem Acrostic, 'ADORE' ring, Hallmarked, 18ct Gold

This is a really beautiful vintage acrostic ring. Featuring an amethyst, diamond, ruby, opal, emerald, the first letter of each of these gemstones spell out the word ‘ADORE’. There is ornate engraving down each shoulder and a pair of diamonds sandwiched between each gem giving the ring a unique feel.

The 18ct gold band is marked for 18ct Gold and its makers mark of T.C and I would date it to the 1950s.

Sentimental rings or 'Acrostic' rings like this have always been extremely popular and were used to express a secret romantic message to their loved one spelt out in gemstones. This one reminded the wearer that they were 'adored'.

Set in 18ct gold, these bright gems are lively and in good condition with just a little wear which can be observed through a loupe in the form of the gem settings and two missing claws. This cannot be seen when the ring is worn and the gems appear completely secure, but i have taken this into consideration when pricing this ring. The band is currently a UK size P (US size 7 3/4) but it could be re-sized. It weighs a very healthy 2.87g
