This very romantic and rare pendant is such a lovely example of antique sweetheart jewellery. Depicting the lines: 'I love you more than yesterday, but less than tomorrow', it actually comes from a french poem, 'The Eternal Song', written by Rosemonde Gerard to her husband, Edmond Rostand, (author of Cyrano de Bergerac) in 1890.
Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t’aime davantage, Aujourd’hui plus qu’hier et bien moins que demain. (For, you see, each day I love you more, Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.)
This vintage version is written in italian, with the words, 'di iere di domani' on a small medal within the heart's face. A beautiful rose is engraved on the left hand side, with two almandine garnets in place of petals. The reverse is plain with clear hallmarks for Italian designer, 'Unoaerre' and '750' for 18ct Gold
The heart is a good dize at 2.4cm diameter. It weighs a healthy 3.75g.
