Rare, Antique, 18ct Gold, Diamond, Ruby and Emerald Snake Ring, 4.74g

This super rare snake ring features two serpents, one with an emerald on its head, and one with a ruby, coiled around each other both holding onto a stunning old mine cut diamond.  The gallery allows lots of light through to the gems, and some really beautiful open gold work to the ring's face,  giving the ring great finger coverage, and a really unique look.

The gems are bright and lively and the old mine cut diamond has a very slight, sought after champagne hue.

The double gold band has lost its hallmarks, presumably due to its evident resize but i would date it to the 1910s.  The band measures a UK size Q 1/2, which is a US size 8 1/4 and it weighs 4.74g.

Queen Victoria was an enthusiast of snake jewellery and had several pieces in her personal collection, notably her snake engagement ring from Prince Albert, which symbolised his everlasting love.
