This truly stunning  and unique Diamond crescent moon brooch features 17 graduating old cut diamonds along its edge and a further five acting as petals and leaves on its inner border.  

Crescent moons have a lot of symbolism attached to them and in Victorian times were representative of the changing of the seasons in one's life.  They were often worn after marriage or after a new addition to the family.

This crescent measures 6.2cm x 1.4cm and it weighs 6.55g. It is not hallmarked but has been tested for 15ct Gold.  I would date it to the late 1800s.
