Victorian, 9ct Gold, Heart-shaped locket, with central rose cut diamond

This beautiful heart shaped locket is crafted from 9ct Gold and is an example of Victorian sweetheart jewellery at its very finest,

Marked for 9ct Gold F&B (Front and back means that its core is made of a strong metal and the 9ct gold used on the outside only.  This was standard for many lockets in this era to ensure strength of the piece.)

The locket boasts a very pretty chased border around its front and back, creating  some lovely deatil and texture.  The centre of the heart features a small rose cut diamond, which twinkles delightfully when it catches the light. 

Measuring 2.5cm x 2.2cm and weighing 2.84g, the heart opens up into a locket which is currently clean and completely empty, and will require frames and plastic covers if you want to insert pictures inside it.
