This stunningly beautiful antique sweetheart brooch is crafted in 15ct Gold, and marked as such on its reverse. It features a shimmering amethyst heart and a glowing citrine heart, both bordered by seed pearls. In Victorian times, this double heart motif symbolised the joining of two lovers. The double hearts are topped with a beautiful crown (which sometimes represented a loving bond, such as marriage) which itself decorated with 7 lustrous seed pearls.
The Brooch measures 2.5cm wide and 2cm long. The amethyst and citrine hearts measure 8mm wide x 7mm length. It weigns a healthy 4.13g.
Amethysts have been viewed through the ages as a stone of peace. Some believe the calming presence of the stone produces soothing dreams. Amethysts have also been thought to have protective, healing, and purifying powers. Citrines are often said to carry the power of the sun, as well as being a powerful cleanser promoting self healing and regeneration.
This fabulous brooch/pin is in excellent condition and is ready to wear.
