Unusual, Victorian 15ct Gold Opening Locket / Pendant

This beautiful Victorian locket features wonderfully detailed engravings  on both sides. It opens via a clasp at the side to reveal an oval locket compartment which is suspended from the top of its gold sleeves a little like a ladybug's wings.

A buckle is beautifully positioned down the centre of the front of the locket - symbolising loyalty and strength - and the idea that one person will hold the other tight.

There are no hallmarks but the locket has been machine tested for 15ct gold. 

This special antique locket still has its original frames and two covers.  It measures 1.5cm x 2cm and it weighs 3.73g. It remains in extremely good condition, with only some signs of wear, as would be expected given its 100+ years history, and looks wonderful hanging from a chain around the neck.
