Sweet, Vintage, 9ct Gold, Opal and Amethyst Cluster Ring

This beautiful showstopper of a ring features a central bright amethyst, bordered by 8 fiery and multicolour changing opal cabochons.  When the opals catch the light you see a real kaleidoscope of colors.   

This vintage ring, probably deriving from the 1960s,  weighs 2.48g, and is currently a UK size O  (US size 7 1/4) but it could be re-sized up or down.  The band is marked for Birmingham and 9ct Gold.

Opal is the birthstone for the month of October.  The name opal is thought to be derived from the Sanskrit upala, meaning “precious stone,” and later the Greek derivative “Opallios, meaning “to see a change of color." Opals have long been thought to encourage freedom, independence and creativity.
