Stunning, Art Deco, 1930s, Sterling Silver, Moonstone Fringe Necklace

This wonderful Art Deco, Vintage Moonstone Necklace features 11 oval moonstone cabachons in their own bezel settings arranged in a very pretty single layer. With a collective weight of approximately 15ct (the largest moonstone measures 1.1cms x 9mm), these moonstones shimmer a magnificent blue grey glow as they hang from their on their 16 inch sterling silver chain.

The necklace is marked for Sterling silver and weighs 7.7g. Its design points to the Art Deco era; 1920's - 1930s.

When Moonstones were first discovered in Ancient Rome, it was believed that they were formed from solidified beams of moonlight. It was also thought that Diana, the goddess of the moon, could be seen within the stone, and that it would bestow love, wisdom and good fortune upon the wearer. Other cultures have associated the moonstone with good luck powers, and a symbol of love and passion.
