Reserved 1st payment Stunning, Art Deco, 1930s, 9ct Gold, Moonstone Necklace

This wonderful, and quite unique Art Deco, Moonstone Necklace features 40 round moonstone cabachons in their own bezel settings arranged in a very pretty design.  The smaller bordering moonstones are set all the way around the 9ct gold chain, right up to the clasp, andthey  lead down to a central moonstone flower which hangs at the front of the necklace.

With a collective weight of at least 20 carats, these moonstones  are well matched, and shimmer a magnificent blue/grey glow as they hang from their 15 inch 9ct Gold chain. 

The necklace is not marked, but has been tested for 9ct Gold.  It weighs  15.55g and its design points to the Art Deco era; likely towards the end of the 1930s.

When Moonstones were first discovered in Ancient Rome, it was believed that they were formed from solidified beams of moonlight. It was also thought that Diana, the goddess of the moon, could be seen within the stone, and that it would bestow love, wisdom and good fortune upon the wearer.   Other cultures have associated the moonstone with good luck powers, and a symbol of love and passion.
