Stunning, Antique, 18ct Gold Old Cut Diamond Snake Ring

This is such a pretty antique snake ring.  It features a coiled serpent, (with a happy expression!) in 18ct gold.  Its head is crowned with a lively old cut diamond.   

This ring sits flat and comfortably on the finger and is fully hallmarked for 18ct Gold and Birmingham. Although the date mark has been rubbed, i would date it to the early 1900s. . It weighs a 3.51g and it measures 9mm accross its face, providing lovely finger coverage.  It is currently a UK size N (US size 7).

Queen Victoria was an enthusiast of snake jewellery and had several pieces in her personal collection, notably her snake engagement ring from Prince Albert, which symbolised his everlasting love.
