Rare, Vintage, 18ct Gold, Chrysoprase and Ruby Snake Ring, 9.42g

This incredible snake ring features a wonderful apple-green chrysoprase a top its head, and two ruby eyes. The beautifully engraved 18ct Gold band coils around the finger snake-like, three times, and is very slightly flexible to ensure a snug fit.  

The band has lost its hallmarks, but it has been tested for 18ct Gold and i would date it to the Art Deco era.   It is currently a UK I 1/2, or 4 3/4, but it could be re-sized.  It weighs 9.42g.

Queen Victoria was an enthusiast of snake jewellery and had several pieces in her personal collection, notably her snake engagement ring from Prince Albert, which symbolised his everlasting love.This heart is a truly exceptional piece, remains in excellent condition and is ready to wear. It is not hallmarked, but given its design and the materials used, I would date it to the late Victorian era.

One of the birthstones for May, Chrysoprase is an apple-green chalcedony gemstone associated with love, happiness, and possibly, say some, linked to the Goddess Venus.
