French, Hallmarked, Vintage, 18ct Gold Snake Ring

This is such a pretty vintage snake ring.  Crafted in a buttery 18ct gold, the skinny shank coils around the finger comfortably in  a UK size M 1/2, which is a US size 6 1/42.  The band is marked 18ct gold with the french eagles head, on the outside of the shank, and I would date it to the end of 1920s.

This handsome chap has a lovely blue sapphire on its head and fantastic texture and detail covering its head and shoulders.   

A fashionable Victorian symbol of eternal love,  snakes have maintained their popularity since Prince Albert gave Queen Victoria a snake enggement ring in the 1800s. Since that time, snakes on jewellery have symbolized eternity and everlasting love.
