Belle Epoque, French, 18ct Gold Roses Necklace

This fabulous Belle Epoque necklace features 5 highly decorative graduated panels, the largest of which sits at the centre, all ornately engraved with roses and leaves. The panels are held on a hayseed link chain and spring clasp.

With both the panels and the chain testing 18ct gold, this necklace has taken on a wonderful patina over the years, and remains strong and secure.

As with so many antique pieces, this necklace remains very wearable today and would look elegant on occasion. The necklace measures 18 inches and weighs a comfortable 4.66g.

The wonderful thing about these types of antique necklaces is that you are unlikely to find two the same; they were made by hand, and although it is clearly a Belle Epoque design, the jeweller has had the opportunity to show off their own original designs and skills.

The Belle Epoque period fell between 1871 and 1914. It translates from French to “the beautiful era” and is regarded as Europe's golden age.
