Antique, Victorian 9ct Gold Curb Link 'Night and Day' Bracelet (17.25g)

This is an extremely beautiful Victorian 9ct gold curb bracelet (7mm wide)  with a large, and exquisitly decorated heart padlock (1.6cm x 1.6cm)  and its own safety chain.

On one side of this classical curb bracelet, there are alternating engraved and plain links all the way round. On the other side, the hollow links are all plain. The Victorians called bracelets decorated like this  "Night & Day” bracelets as they were reversible and could be worn with for night or daywear.  The plain side was worn during the day and then it was turned over to its chased side for evening wear. The fashion for these bracelets has continued from Victorian times right through to the 21st Century where they remain a classic and iconic piece for many women today.
 
This bracelet remains in excellent antique condition with only age-related wear, at the as would be expected with a bracelet of this age.
