Clearly Hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Birmingham and the year 1899, this is a really wonderful antique buckle ring from the late Victorian era.  It features a bright and lively (approximately 30 points) sparkling old cut diamond in a starburst setting in the centre of a wide (8mm at its widest point and 6mm at its thinnest) 18ct gold band.   The buckle itself is large and the loop and clasp clearly cut, giving good texture and detail to this spectacular ring.

Weighing a heavy 7.09g, this is a substantial piece of jewellery, which provides fabulous finger coverage and is an extremely worthy investment.

Buckle rings were prevalent in the Victorian era, when sentimental jewellery was extremely popular.  Buckles on jewellery were given as love tokens.  They symbolised the binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring.  They were also regarded as symbols of loyalty and memory.

This ring is a UK size S 1/2, which is a US size 9 1/2.  It measures 8mm at the widest part of the band and 6mm at the thinnest part (where it sits underneath the finger).  It has been lightly cleaned and is ready to wear!
