15ct Gold, Buckle Ring, Ruby and Diamond, Hallmarked for 15ct Gold, Birmingham and 1876

Dating to 1876, (making this antique ring 146 years old!), this very sweet buckle ring is a really wonderful example of antique sweetheart jewellery.

It features 4 beautiful pink rubies, and three diamonds (2 old cuts, and a rose cut), in a traditional buckle design.

The gems are well set on a substantial 15ct gold band which display crisp and original hallmarks for 15ct Gold in Birmingham, 1876.

Buckle rings were prevalent in the Victorian era, when sentimental jewellery was extremely popular. Buckles on jewellery were given as love tokens. They symbolised the binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring. They were also regarded as symbols of loyalty and memory.

This is a stunning and classical piece which would compliment any jewellery collection  It is currently a UK size M, which is a US size 6 1/4 . It weighs 3.57g
