This is a fabulous Victorian double snake ring which features two entwined serpents (which represent eternal, everlasting love, loyalty and friendship) with sparkling ruby and diamond eyes. These original hallmarked antique snake rings are getting more and more difficult to find, and this one is that much rarer in that it is crafted from a wonderful 15ct Gold.
The ring's face measures 11mm at its widest point and 6mm at the very back of the band. The wide buttery gold band is fully hallmarked for 15ct Gold, Birmingham and the Victorian year 1898. It weighs a heavy 10.27g and is currently a UK size P 1/2 (US size 8) but could be re-sized within reason.
Queen Victoria was an enthusiast of snake jewellery and had several pieces in her personal collection, notably her snake engagement ring from Prince Albert, which symbolised his everlasting love.
