Antique, Victorian, 15ct Gold Diamond Buckle Ring, Hallmarked, 15ct Gold, Birmingham, 1897

This is an incredible buckle ring, featuring a single sparkling diamond in a starburst setting on a wide 15ct gold band.  I have only even seen these bands in 9ct or 18ct, never 15ct, so this is quite unusual.  The original hallmarks remain; it clearly states it was made in Birmingham in the year 1897 making this ring Victorian.

Buckle rings were prevalent in the Victorian era, when sentimental jewellery was extremely popular.  Buckles on jewellery were given as love tokens.  They symbolised the binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring.  They were also regarded as symbols of loyalty and memory.

This is a stunning and classical piece which would compliment any jewellery collection.

This ring is a UK size N, which is a US size 6 3/4  It measures 6mm at the widest part of the band and weighs a hefty 6.15g.  It has been lightly cleaned and is ready to wear.
