Antique, Edwardian, 18ct Gold, Engraved (Orange Blossom) Wedding /Stacking Band, Hallmarked, Birmingham, 1911
Crafted from a bright and buttery 18ct Gold, this stunning Edwardian wedding band is a wonderful find. It features beautiful and intricate engravings of ivy (a romantic symbolism in the Victorian/Edwardian eras, which translated as 'cling to thee') and orange blossom, which itself also carries a romantic sentiment. The blossom symbolized fertility and prosperity, and its color, innocence. They became popular after Queen Victoria wore the blossoms in her floral wedding crown; symbolising that her marriage to Albert would be fruitful for Britain. These incredible engravings cover the entire ring, all around the band, so that it can be worn in any position.
Fully hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Birmingham and the year 1911, this Edwardian band sits very comfortably on the finger and currently meaures a UK size L 1/2, which is a US size 6. It is 8mm wide all the way round, and weighs a very healthy 5.16g!
