Antique Art Nouveau, 9ct Gold and Bristol Blue Glass Double Heart Locket backed Pendant

This absolutely stunning pendant/locket derives from the Art Nouveau era (1890-1910) and features a romantic seed pearl double heart symbol at its centre (the entwinded heart reprenting the joining of two people in marriage or love), on a Bristol blue glass background.    46 lustrous natural seed pearls border this incredible piece.  The reverse is a locket back, clean, empty and ready to hold a moment of your own. 

This wonderful locket is marked for 9ct gold on its reverse.  It is in excellent condition given its age;  the pearls are well set and secure, and well matched in colour.   The exterior of the locket measures 3.7cm in diameter and it weighs a healthy 11.16g.

Often referred to as "cobalt blue glass", Bristol Blue glassware is made mixing cobalt with molten glass to produce the distinctive and magical blue colour.  (Have a look at the video and look at the beautiful blues which are lit up inside the glass when the sun hits it)  Finally, what makes objects made from this glass  so special, is that the process is done entirely by hand.  A true work of art!
