Antique, 9ct Gold Engraved Buckle Ring, Hallmarked for 9ct Gold, Chester and 1908 (3.06g)

Clearly hallmarked for 9ct Gold, Chester and 1908,  this is a really super antique buckle ring, steeped in romantic symbolism.  It features the most exquisite engraving of ivy leaves and forget me not flowers on a wonderful 9ct gold band.  It way it has been polished actually make it look more like 18ct!  The buckle itself is also engraved and the clasp and loop are substantial.

This ring is a UK size M 1/2 which is a US size  6 1/4.  It measures 9mm at the widest part of the band, over the buckle and 6mm at the thinnest part (where it sits underneath the finger).  It weighs 3.06g

This is a wonderful piece of antique jewellery, which provides fabulous finger coverage and is an extremely worthy investment.  It has been lightly cleaned and is ready to wear!

Buckle rings were prevalent in the Victorian era, when sentimental jewellery was extremely popular.  Buckles on jewellery were given as love tokens.  They symbolised the binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring.  They were also regarded as symbols of loyalty and memory.
