Clearly Hallmarked for 15ct Gold, Birmingham and the year 1881, this is a really super antique buckle ring from the Victorian era.
It features a single, good size sparkling rose cut diamond in a starburst setting with secure claws.
The buckle itself has gorgeous detailing over the front of the ring, and is substantial enough to be worn alone, and has great finger coverage.
Buckle rings were prevalent in the Victorian era, when sentimental jewellery was extremely popular. Buckles on jewellery were given as love tokens. They symbolised the binding love between the giver and the wearer of the ring. They were also regarded as symbols of loyalty and memory.
This ring is a UK size O, which is a US size 7 1/4 and it weighs 2.24g.
