French, FIXE, Weeping Angel of Amiens Pendant / Charm

This is a simply stunning, and rather unique pendant/medal crafted in 18ct FIXE (French rolled gold). 

Featuring the 'weeping angel of Amiens', a cherub who became known in the 17th century and is located behind the high altar in the ambulatory of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame d'Amiens).  This angel is long associated with a peace, and became more well known internationally during the first world war. 

The reverse of this medal features the motto of the British Order of the Garter, which today, functions as a prestigious personal gift from the British Monarch to honour individuals for exceptional public service. 

This wonderful pendant measures 2.2 in diameter and weighs 3.54g. It remains in excellent condition.
